Norman Taurog

Norman Taurog ( born February 23, 1899 in Chicago, Illinois, † April 7, 1981 in Rancho Mirage, California ) was an American film director.

Life

Norman Taurog entered for the first time in 1912 in a silent film as an actor in appearance. The uncle of a child star Jackie Cooper led from 1920 Directed and remained 48 years as a director in Hollywood worked and brought it to a total of 128 films. He won an Oscar in 1931 for the film Skippy as Best Director and in 1939 was nominated for daredevils in this category. He specialized not only by the films with his nephew Jackie Cooper on films with children in lead roles and has since brought to true classics of cinema with children.

He was also the director of numerous slight musical comedies. In the 1950s, he created the most beautiful of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin comedies and in the 1960s he was the associate director of Elvis Presley.

Norman Taurog was married from 1944 until his death with Susan Ream.
