Nornen-class patrol vessel

The Norns class is a five -unit class of patrol boats of the Royal Norwegian Navy. Your responsibilities are classic coast guard tasks such as search and rescue, assistance to ships in distress and perception of sovereign functions.

History

The Norns class consists of five boats of the ST -610 designs by the Norwegian shipyard Skipsteknisk AS, but they were built in Poland. On 24 November 2004, the contract for the five boats could be signed. After delivery of the boats are leased for 15 years and replace the oldest units of the Norwegian Coast Guard.

Equipment

Their main area will be the direct coastal waters, so the ships are also relatively small. Compared to their predecessors, they are found in all the areas better but also bigger and therefore much seagoing. Kit includes only light weapons - particularly handguns and 12.7 mm machine guns - a 10.5 m daughter boat, a 6m RIB, two Faltkräne with a maximum length of 10 m and a maximum load of 2.8 tons, two capstans of maximum 5 ton capacity and a winch with a pulling force of up to 35 tons. In addition, equipment is available for the extraction of oil spills and associated tanks with a volume of 155 m3. A facility for fire fighting is also to be upgraded.

Accommodation

For the lower ranks of the crew are six double cabins available, while the higher ranks are housed in six individual cabins. For the Board the ship through a fair and leisure has the crew members can visit two community rooms. There is also a fitness room, laundry facilities and a small hospital on board.
