Norr Mälarstrand

The Norr Mälarstrand is a street on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, it runs in an east-west direction on the north bank of the Riddarfjaerden and begins at Stockholm Stadshus.

The road was already planned during the years 1863 to 1864 and created the end of the 19th century. Before that here there were only several jetties and numerous small businesses. Now the aim of building with fixed moorings and a baumbepflanzte Parks Boulevard. To Stockholm street names revision 1885 the stretch of road got its current name, just like the Söder Mälarstrand, which is located on the southern shore of Riddarfjaerden, the establishment situated further east Strandvägen and many other streets in the city.

At midsummer 1923, the Stockholm Stadshus was inaugurated, it is located at the eastern end of the Norr Mälarstrand and is the most striking structure. The typical residential buildings in the functionalist style in the middle part of the road was designed and built in the 1930s, they are almost all out with their short side facing the street. In one of the houses, Norr Mälarstrand No. 66, attended the Swedish explorer Sven Hedin from 1935 until his death in 1952. Early 1940s was at the western end of the road, a narrow park according to the plans of the Stockholm city garden manager Holger Blom.
