North American SuperLiga
The Super League División was a football competition between teams of Major League Soccer (USA, Canada), and the Mexican Primera.
The competition was organized by the North - American and mid continental federation CONCACAF and the Mexican and U.S. American football associations. The competition was presented to the public on January 13, 2007 and found in its first edition from 24 July to 29 August 2007 in the USA. These four teams of both leagues were invited. The first winner was the Mexican first division club CF Pachuca. The Super League was disbanded in March 2011.
Mode
The tournament begins with a group stage, which consists of two groups of four teams. The top two teams from each group advance to the next round ( semi-finals ) and play in the knockout method the winner.
Still selected teams were invited to the Tournament in the first edition, then decided the sporty performance in the league. For the 2009 competition have qualified from the MLS, the top four teams who could not already qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League in 2008.
From the Primera División take part the best teams from the combined Aperatura and Clausura standings a year, as long as these teams do not qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League.
The winner of the first edition of the competition received a prize of one million U.S. dollars.
