North Beach (San Francisco)

North Beach is a neighborhood in San Francisco. The coined by Italian immigrants district is located in the northeast of the bay between Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf. Protected by the Russian Hill North Beach has more sunny days than the rest of the city. Along with the many Italian restaurants and cafes, this is a popular among the inhabitants of the district. Washington Square with St. Peter and Paul Church is located in the center of the district.

In the 1950s in North Beach was a milieu of the Beat Generation, a literary movement. In particular, in the local Vesuvio Café perverted writers such as Jack Kerouac, Dylan Thomas and Neal Cassady.
