North Bergen is a township in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. In the 2000 census, a total population of 58 092 has been registered.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.6 km ², of which 13.5 km ² of land and 1.1 km ² ( 7.47% ) is water.

Demography

According to the census of 2000, there are 58,092 people, 21,236 households, and 14,249 families residing in the city. The population density is 4313.4 persons per km ². 67.36 % of the population are White, 2.72% African American, 0.40 % Native American, 6.47 % Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 15.53 % from other races, and 7.47% mixed race. 57.25 % are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 21,236 households 32.0% have children under 18 years. 47.4 % are married couples living together, 14.2% are single mothers, 32.9 % are non-families, 27.7 % consists of single-person households and 11.2% in people older than 65, the average household size is 2, 70, the average family size is 3.33.

22.7 % of the population are under the age of 18, 9.0 % from 18 to 24, 33.1% from 25 to 44, 21.4% between 45 and 64, 13.8% older than 65 is the average age 36 years. The ratio of women to men is 100:91,5, for people older than 18 years, the ratio 100:87,7.

The median household income is $ 40,844, and the median income for a family $ 46,172. Males have a median income of $ 35,626, women $ 29,067.
