Northern California

Northern California (English or Northern California Nor Cal * ) is the northern part of the U.S. state of California. The largest cities in the region include San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento and Oakland. Northern California is characterized by its Mediterranean climate and its apart of the metropolitan regions, quite sparse population. Metropolitan areas are San Francisco Bay and Sacramento, the capital of California. Also densely populated is the Sonoma County. This borders on the most important wine -growing region of the U.S., the Napa County.

In Northern California resident with Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley, two of the most prestigious universities in the United States.
