Northern Kings

Northern Kings is a four-piece Finnish heavy metal supergroup.

Band History

Northern Kings was founded in 2007 with the goal of creating metal cover versions of popular hits from the 1980s. Among the members, who are all lead singers in popular Finnish metal bands include Marco Hietala, the bass player and singer of the band Tarot and Nightwish, Tony Kakko, the singer of the band Sonata Arctica, Jarkko Ahola, the singer and bassist of the band Teräsbetoni and Juha -Pekka Leppäluoto, the singer of the band Charon.

On 26 September 2007 was the debut single We Do not Need Another Hero, a cover version of hits from Tina Turner in 1985 published, and reached number 7 on the Finnish singles chart. On 31 October 2007 the album Reborn, which also peaked at number seven and was awarded in Finland since the end of 2007 with over 17,000 units sold for gold appeared. While the Turner Cover sing all four members, and the remaining twelve songs were interpreted by each one of the singers.

With Rethroned the second consistently consisting of cover versions album was released on 19 November 2008.
