Northfork

Northfork is an American fantasy drama film from the year 2003. Directed by Michael Polish, who also wrote the screenplay with Mark Polish and produced the movie.

Action

The film has several storylines, all of which play in the city Northfork (Montana). After the completion of a dam is the city - to be flooded - evacuated. Employees of the investor to travel in black car through the area and persuade the inhabitants to leave the town. Some residents shoot at them. Father Harlan takes care of the dying orphans Irwin and want to stay.

Byrge mentioned the participation of numerous celebrities like James Woods, Nick Nolte, Kyle MacLachlan and Daryl Hannah in the cast, which could secure the film a place in the cable television.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times 11 July 2003, the film was a "visionary " and " elegiac " - more like a fable similar. He was more " glamorous " than entertaining. Although some viewers the Sundance Film Festival have found the pace to be too slow, the pace is right for the tone of the film.

Awards

Michael Polish won in 2003 the German Independence Award at the International Film Festival of Oldenburg and the City of Athens Award at the Athens International Film Festival; He was nominated in 2003 at the American Film Festival in Deauville for the Grand Special Prize. M. David Mullen was nominated in 2004 for the Independent Spirit Award and the Chlotrudis Award. The film won the 2004 Golden Trailer Award.
