Norwegian Air Lines

Det Norske Luftfartsselskap (DNL ) was Norway's national airline until 1948. The company was founded in 1933 and resulted in the first years only feeder services to the former Oslo water aerodrome " Gressholmen sjøflyhavn " by.

In 1935, the first own aircraft were acquired:

  • A Junkers W 34, which was registered on 1 June 1935 at the Norwegian aircraft register and received the designation LN -DAB. The aircraft received the name of triads and was used on a mail route between Oslo and Copenhagen ( via Gothenburg ).

1936 opened the DNL a summer route between Bergen and Tromsø with three flights a week and stops in Ålesund, Molde, Kristiansund, Trondheim, Brønnøysund, Sandnessjøen, Bodø, Narvik and Harstad. in the summer another route between Gressholmen and Oslo was established. Also 1936 was negotiated with the Pan American World Airways, a common transatlantic route. After the Second World War, the company was re-established on 2 July 1946. The aircraft fleet consisted at that time of two pre-war Junkers, five acquired by the Luftwaffe Ju 52, two Douglas C -47 ( converted to DC-3 Dakota) and two new Douglas DC-4 Skymaster. On August 1, 1948 DNL, Det Danske Luftfartsselskab and AB Aero Transport were merged and now form the SAS Scandinavian Airlines.
