Norwegian Meteorological Institute

The Norske Institutt Meteorologisk (NMI ) ( Norwegian Meteorological Institute ) is the official weather service in Norway. It was founded in 1866 and is under the Ministry of Education and Research ( Kunnskapsdepartement ). Its head office is in Oslo, and branch offices are located in Bergen and Tromsø.

The 70 -year-old cooperation between the NMI with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation has been intensified with the establishment of the weather service yr.no 2007.
