Norwegian Public Roads Administration

The Statens a Norwegian, governmental authority that is responsible for the construction and maintenance of Riksveier ( imperial roads, comparable to federal highways in Germany ) and Fylkesveier (comparable to state roads ), as well as the supervision of motor vehicles and the traffic is Public Roads Administration in general bears.

The Authority consists of the Vegdirektorat, five regional departments ( officially called Regionvegkontorer ) and 30 area departments. In each area there are several Trafikkstasjoner. For larger construction projects separate departments are formed, which are directly subordinate to the regional departments.

The business activities of Statens Public Roads Administration was outsourced to the corporation Mesta 2003.
