Nosiola

Nosiola is a white grape variety that is grown in the provinces of Trentino and Verona of the Italian regions Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto. It is used for example in the wines of the DOC wines Sorni and Trentino Nosiola. Currently there are still 108 acres (1999 ) planted after the variety was still the beginning of the 20th century very popular.

Properties

The late-ripening Nosiola provides straw yellow, fruity white wines with a flat structure ( → lack of acid) and a slight bitter taste.

Nosiola is also a synonym for the white grape Durella. Both varieties are not related to each other. DNA analysis at the " Istituto di San Michele all'Adige agrario " today, however, brought Fondazione Edmund Mach in San Michele all'Adige an indication of a relationship to the old, based in the Swiss Alps grape Rèze.
