Nothweiler

Nothweiler is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Dahn, which has its headquarters in the town of Dahn. Nothweiler is a nationally recognized resort.

Geography

Nothweiler is the Dahn Rockland, on the borders of French Alsace. The landscape is part of the Palatinate Forest Nature Park.

History

Religion

2012 were 62.2 percent of the population Protestant and 24.3 percent Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were. Catholics belong to the diocese of Speyer, the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Protestant Palatinate.

The local council in Nothweiler consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " In Blue on green Dreienberg a three-towered castle silver, beseitet top of two crossed blue mallets ".

It was approved by the district government Neustadt 1977.

Castle ruins

The Wegelnburg is the highest castle in the Palatinate. Across the border are High Castle, Lowenstein and Fleckenstein castle.

Museums

Since 2001, located in the former town hall Nothweiler ( center, corner main road / Zeppelinstraße ) the instruments, a small museum for optics, metrology and mathematical devices.
