Notker of Liège

Notker (also Notger, † April 10, 1008 in Liège ) was 972-1008 Bishop of Liege.

Notger was considered an excellent administrator of his diocese and as a promoter of schools, and he enjoyed at the emperors and popes of his time high reputation.

He was buried in the church of St. Jean to Liege. He was beatified; its observances are the 9th and 10th of April.

Johannes Fried holds Notger of Liege, not John Canaparius, for the author of the Vita sancti adalberti episcopi Pragensis about the life of Saint Adalbert of Prague (* 956 - † 997) to ( built around 1000). In this work, for the first time is mentioned the city of Gdansk, under the name of " urbs Gyddanyzc ".
