Noureddin Kianouri

Noureddin Kianouri ( born 1915 Nour, † November 5, 1999 in the province of Māzandarān ) was an Iranian politician. Kianouri was a leading member of the communist Tudeh party and its general secretary from 1979 to 1984.

Life

Noureddin Kianouri was born in 1915 as the son of a wealthy sheikh Nour. His grandfather was Sheikh Fazlollah Nuri, who had fought against the Constitutional Revolution in Iran in 1909 and therefore had been executed. The family of Kianouri was known for a certain attention to fanaticism.

After his graduation Kianouri went to Germany and studied at the RWTH Aachen Civil Engineering. After his return, he taught at the University of Tehran. In the Tudeh Party Princess Maryam Firouz Farman learned Kianouri Farmaian, Abdol Hossein Mirza 's daughter Farmanfarma know, who came from one of the richest landowners families. By 1940, Noureddin and Maryam went to Moscow to get married there. After the overthrow of Prime Minister Mossadegh in August 1953 and the banning of the Tudeh Party fled Kianouri and his wife in the GDR and lived there for nearly 25 years in exile. Kioanouri was convicted of forced labor in absentia to 25 years for his involvement in the sometimes violent demonstrations against the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and the call for the abolition of the monarchy and the establishment of the Republic.

After the Islamic Revolution, the couple returned to Iran and Kianouri was general secretary of the Tudeh Party. In 1983, the Tudeh Party was banned again. The mirror: served as grounds for the accusation of spying for the Soviet Union. Kianouri and his wife were arrested, and he was forced to make a public confession on Iranian TV. After his release mid 90s Kianouri wrote an open letter in which he described the torture of his imprisonment and his wife in detail.

Kianouri died on 5 November 1999 in Mazandaran.
