Nova Bus

Nova Bus is a Canadian bus manufacturer headquartered in Saint- Eustache, Quebec, Canada. The company is 100 % owned by the Swedish Volvo Group. The company employs 1,000 people at its two production sites in the vicinity of Montreal, as well as in Plattsburgh, New York.

History

The production plant was originally built by General Motors, with the aim to build a plant for city buses for the Canadian market. In 1987, the General Motors management decided the work of Motorcoach Industries ( MCI ) for sale, which was merged from several companies and was led by Greyhound Lines. The work was earmarked for the construction of city buses, which were mainly intended for the Canadian market. Since 1993, bus city buses are manufactured under the brand name Nova. Since 1995, the classic buses were stopped and the production of low-floor vehicles was recorded. Due to the relatively severe market environment in 2002, a plant in Roswell in the U.S. were closed, so that Nova Bus focused on its core market in Canada. The work was bought by a consortium, Millennium Transit Services, which has filed insolvency in 2008. The Chicago Transit Authority ( CTA), has in its fleet with more than 483 buses by the manufacturer.

On February 22, 2008, there Nova Bus to return to the U.S. market known. The company invested in a new manufacturing plant in Plattsburgh, New York. The plant began on 15 June 2009 on its production. The first order of 90 vehicles received Nova Bus of the New York City Transit Authority for 90 LFS Articulated buses. In March 2010, the company received an order of 24 buses from Honolulu County, Hawaii. In March 2012, the Walt Disney Company has given interest in buses of the company.

Models

Current

Currently, the company's Low Floor Series ( LFS ), which can be ordered in three versions produced. The buses are ( rigid LFS) in the versions standard bus, an articulated bus (LFS Artic ), Bus Rapid Transit ( LFX ) available. The rigid LFS series was produced in 1995 en masse. The LFS Arctic and LFX models was introduced that in 2009. The vehicles are also available in hybrid versions, which are powered by an Allison EP40 hybrid parallel system.
