Nova Odesa

Nova Odessa (Ukrainian Нова Одеса; Russian Новая Одесса / Novaya Odessa ) is a city in the Mykolaiv Oblast in Ukraine. It is about 40 kilometers northwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Mykolaiv the Southern Bug.

At the city council community include not only the city proper and the village Kryworischschja ( Криворіжжя ).

The place went from a Cossack settlement forth, this was until 1739 the name Olexijiwske ( Олексіївське ) and was settled by Russian Old Believers. 1739-1832 was the name Fedoriwka ( Федорівка ) the official place name, it settled mainly after the Russo -Turkish War Zaporozhian Cossacks. Once near the place Russian troops were stationed, the military settlement in 1832 on the instructions of Emperor renamed " Nova Odessa" and then disbanded in 1859 and united with the place.

Since 1923, Nova Odessa is the principal town of the same name Rajons Nova Odessa, in 1976 it also the city status was granted.
