Nova Scotia Oilers

The Nova Scotia Oilers were a Canadian ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from Halifax, Nova Scotia. The venue of the Nova Scotia Oilers was the Halifax Metro Centre.

History

The Nova Scotia Oilers was founded in 1984 as a farm team of the Edmonton Oilers and took their logo. In a total of four seasons in the American Hockey League, the Oilers reached the playoffs three times, but each left in the first playoff round. Only in the 1985/86 season, the playoffs have been missed.

After the 1987/88 season the team to Sydney, Nova Scotia has been relocated, where they played as the Cape Breton Oilers of the AHL. The gap that was left in the city, filled the Halifax Citadel.
