Novalis (Band)
Novalis was the name of a German rock band from the 1970s. Among the best known works of the band include the title summer evening and he who hears laughing butterflies.
Band History
With a newspaper ad searched 1971, the singer Jürgen Wenzel and bassist Heino Schünzel interested in a common band. It reported the organist Lutz Rahn and drummer Hartwig Biereichel. Together with guitarist Carlo Karges made you the Hamburg group Mosaic, which soon renamed itself in Novalis. After the debut 1973 album Wenzel left the band and Heino Schünzel took over the vocals. 1979 Novalis produced a concept album about whaling (fins angels) with which one the World Wildlife Fund supported. Beginning of the 1980s the typical style of Novalis seemed to have survived. The musicians were looking for a new direction, the group was swept away from the Neue Deutsche Welle and gradually dissolved after several line-up changes on.
In 1985, the Group adopted the tide with the album after us. The guitarist Günther Brackmann accompanied on tour 1985 Novalis as a guest musician. 1993 brought Rahn and Biereichel yet figured out a sampler with old live recordings from the best of times.
