November Group (German)

The November Group was an artists' association founded in Berlin on 3 December 1918. The name derives from the November Revolution of 1918. 1935 was her end was sealed with the removal from the Register of Associations of the city.

History of the artist group

In the first few months were 170 artist of the newly formed group in November: 49 of them alone came from the editorial environment of Herwarth Walden's periodical storm. Weimar Republic

The artists of the November Group identified themselves as radical and revolutionary. Exhibitions

The most important means of self-expression exhibitions were organized regularly. Each year the members of the group of artists were represented at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition with a separate room November Group. National Socialism

By the National Socialists, the November Group was designated as Red November Group. Because of their commitment to abstraction and atonality its members were accused of being Bolshevik. In 1935, she was removed from the register of associations. After Oskar Schlemmer's details, the artist group is, however, burst in 1932.

Founding members

The initiators of the establishment were mainly the painter Max Pechstein, Georg Tappert, César Klein, Moriz Melzer and Heinrich Richter - Berlin, who had been active in the 1914 resolution Neue Secession in Berlin.
