November Rain

February 24, 1992

November Rain (English for " November Rain" ) is a song by American hard rock band Guns N 'Roses, which can be found on the album Use Your Illusion I ( 10 tracks on the album ). The song was written by the singer and frontman Axl Rose. The song is a ballad of around nine minutes long, and thus joins the list of known epic ballads like Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin or Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen one. In the U.S., the single was released to the song in February until June 1992.

Music

The instrumental range has been carefully designed, in which many synthesizers and keyboards were used for this purpose. Mainly you can hear the whole song, the piano and the voice of Axl Rose and many long solos by Slash. In addition, the song is highlighted with a background choir and a synthesizer orchestra. After about 7 minutes tilts the cheerful and fun atmosphere in a rough guitar solo that lasts until the end.

Text

Through the text can be seen particularly that it is a love ballad. It is intended as a declaration of love to a woman.

Beginning of the text:

When I look into your eyes I can see a love restrained But darlin ' when i hold you Do not you know I feel the same But nothin ' lasts forever And we both know hearts can change And it's hard to hold a candle In the cold november rain

German translation:

When I look into your eyes Can I see a love restrained But darling when I hold you ... Do not you know that I feel the same? But nothing lasts forever And we both know that feelings can change And it's hard to hold a candle in the cold November rain

Music Video

The video is a mixture of a performance with orchestra and history Without You by Del James. It has a budget of $ 1.5 million of the most expensive music videos of all time. At the beginning of the video you can see Axl Rose as he goes to bed and takes pills. Then sequences come from the live performance that will subsequently appear in the video again and again. Then the story begins with the marriage of Axl Rose and his then-girlfriend Stephanie Seymour, in addition to many guests, the band is present.

Slash realizes that he has forgotten the wedding rings, but Duff McKagan has thought of it and bring that with. Slash leaves the first wedding and the fabulous acting plays in front of the church ( which apparently is in a steppe landscape ) his first solo. Finally, Rose and Seymour leave the wedding, then slash again plays a solo. The next scene shows the celebrations after the wedding, in the initiated and danced. Suddenly a heavy rain comes up and all try to save themselves, one person jumps through the wedding cake and everything ends in chaos.

Now comes the last scene change. One sees the same church again, but now only one priest, a few guests, the grieving rose and an open coffin in the Seymour lies. This must be added the last guitar solo by Slash, to which he rises in the live sequences to Roses Piano. Once you see sitting in front of the grave Rose devastated, yet is also a small outro. He wakes up and he come scenes of the wedding in mind. Why Seymour died, however, also remains at the end of the video remains unclear.
