Novi Zrin

The fortress New Zrin or New -serine (Croatian: Novi Utvrda Zrin, Hungarian: Zrinyiújvár ) was located near the mouth of the river Mur in the Drau, in the extreme east of today's northern Croatia Međimurje County next to the village of Donja Dubrava. She was in 1661 by Nicholas Zrinski, the Ban of Croatia has been built, and served primarily as a counter- fort to 1600, the Ottomans lost city and fortress Kanizsa.

The Ottomans besieged New Zrin several times over the next three years, but the troops Zrinski managed always to defend the fortress. In the summer of 1664 attacked a large Turkish army New Zrin and destroyed it on July 6, 1664th

At the spot where once stood the fortress was adjusted later as a reminder on an obelisk. The territory of the former fort is now divided between the municipality Legrad in Croatian Koprivnica - Križevci and the Republic of Hungary.
