Novomyrhorod
Nowomyrhorod (Ukrainian Новомиргород; Russian Nowomirgorod ) is a city in Kirovohrad Oblast in Ukraine with about 11,600 inhabitants.
Geography
The city is located about 50 km northwest of the capital of this oblast, Kirovohrad on the river Welyka Wys.
The city council community is next to the city proper or from the villages Byrsulowe ( Бирзулове ) and Likarewe ( Лікареве ).
History
The town was first mentioned in 1740 as a winter home for the Cossacks Good " Tresjahy " ( Тресяги ) in writing. In subsequent years, the area was inhabited by settlers from Myrhorod and 1752 was the now Novy Myrhorod ( " New Myrhorod " ) called settlement capital of the province of New Serbia. In 1773 it received city rights, since 1923 was Nowomyrhorod capital of the okrugs Jelisawetgrad, 1959, the neighboring town Slatopil was incorporated and the town of the same administrative seat of the homonymous Rajons Nowomyrhorod.
