Novotroitske, Kherson Oblast

Nowotrojizke (Ukrainian Новотроїцьке; Russian Новотроицкое / Nowotroizkoje ) is an urban-type settlement in the southeastern Ukrainian Kherson Oblast with 10,800 inhabitants ( 2013).

Geography

Nowotrojizke is located 164 km southeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Kherson and 119 km south-west of Melitopol. The nearest train station is in Nowoolexijiwka 30 km away.

The settlement council municipality still include not only Nowotrojizke the villages Blahowischtschenka (Ukrainian Благовіщенка ) with about 370 inhabitants and Sachariwka (Ukrainian Захарівка ) with about 120 inhabitants.

History

The 1816 under the name Welykyj Sarabulat (Ukrainian Великий Сарабулат ) settlement is founded since 1923 Rajonzentrum and has the status of an urban-type settlement since 1958.

Nowotrojizke is the administrative seat of the founded in 1923, the same Rajons. The Rajon Nowotrojizke is located in the south of the Kherson Oblast, bordering on the Black Sea ( Sywasch ) and the Crimea. It has 37,000 inhabitants and an area of 2298 km ². The population density is 16 inhabitants per km ².
