Novoulyanovsk

Nowouljanowsk (Russian Новоульяновск ) is a city in Ulyanovsk Oblast (Russia) with 16,033 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located on the eastern edge of the Volga plate, about 20 km south of Oblasthauptstadt Ulyanovsk on the right, steep banks of the pent-up to Kuibyshev Reservoir Volga.

Nowouljanowsk the Oblast is administratively subordinated directly.

The city is located near the railway line Ulyanovsk- Saratov - Sysran ( Bely Kliuch station, 7 km away).

History

Nowouljanowsk originated from 1957 in connection with the establishment of the Nowouljanowsker cement plant, one of the largest in the European part of the former Soviet Union. Already on June 21, 1961 was the place the status of an urban-type settlement and on 11 May 1967, the city law.
