Noyes Billings

Noyes Billings ( born March 31, 1800, Stonington, Connecticut, † April 26, 1865 in New London, Connecticut ) was an American politician. Between 1846 and 1847 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Connecticut.

Career

Noyes Billings graduated from Yale College. Later he worked with his younger brother William in their own whaling company. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party, founded by Andrew Jackson. Between 1835 and 1837 he served as Mayor of the City of New London. In 1843 he was a member and President of the House of Connecticut; In 1844 he was a member of the State Senate.

In 1846, Billings was elected to the side of Isaac Toucey for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. This post he held 1846-1847. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he is no longer politically have appeared. Noyes Billings died on 26 April 1865 in New London.
