Nozu Michitsura

Margrave Nozu Michitsura (Japanese野 津 道 贯; born December 17, 1840October 18, 1908 ) was a Japanese field marshal ( Gensui ).

Life

He was born the son of a samurai of the Satsuma fief. In 1871 he was promoted to Major in the Imperial Japanese Army. He then served as Chief of Staff in the 2nd Brigade during the Satsuma Rebellion. In 1878 he was commander of the military district of Tokyo. In 1884 he was sent on a trip to Europe to study the military systems of the major European powers. After his return to Japan, he took over the 5th Division in the Military District Hiroshima. During the first Sino-Japanese War he was commander of the 1st Army and was promoted to General. His later stations were commander of the Imperial Guard, Inspector General and military advisor. During the Russo -Japanese War he commanded the 4th Army. In the battle of Hsimucheng he struck the Imperial Russian Army and took a major part in the Battle of Mukden.

After the war Nozu 1906 was promoted to field marshal and appointed in 1907 after the Japanese nobility system of Kazoku to koshaku ( Markgraf ), thereby starting in September and a seat in the Kizokuin, the Japanese upper house received.
