NS Class 1000

The NS 1000 series was designed for the DC power supply the Netherlands Railways version of the AC electric locomotive series Ae SBB 4/6 of the Swiss Federal Railways. The vehicles from 1001 to 1003 to 1010 were fabricated by the company Werkspoor NV of the SLM in Winterthur and the numbers 1004 in Utrecht. They were used from 1948 to 1982, almost without exception in the freight service. Like the original pattern in Switzerland were the Dutch versions very prone to failure. The locomotive 1010 was transferred after they are decommissioned, the Railway Museum Utrecht.
