The SLT or Sprinter Light Train is an electrical Commuter Train ( EMU - electric multiple unit ) of the operator Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Areas of application

The name Sprinter is for use in the S -Bahn similar traffic, since by wide entries fast passenger changes are possible. The trains, which were developed based on the proven ET 425, connect the regional and local metropolitan areas in the west of the Netherlands together. They will replace older vehicles step by step.

The trains correspond to the new Dutch Railway Act RKS ( Regeling keuring spoorvoertuigen ). This covers, among other things, on a collision scenario of a crash with 110 km per hour on a 15 -tonne barrier.

In criticism came the railway company, as all Sprinter trains are not equipped with toilets. This, according to the Dutch Railways, not necessary on short distances, since in this case the toilets were hardly used. However, Sprinter sets have been used increasingly for longer rail lines in recent years.
