History

The takeover of NTV

The channel NTV was one of the pioneers of the post-Soviet independent media. Led by Vladimir Gusinsky company had the best journalists and presenters. The transmitter turned on high professional standards for the Russian television, brought live broadcasts and a sharp analysis of current events. His political puppet satire " Kukly " became a symbol of that time in which freedom of speech was practically unlimited.

In June of 2000, Gusinsky was arrested by the Prosecutor General's Office as a suspect in a criminal case. He was of the fraud between its holding " Media-Most ," the " Russkoe video - 11j channel " GmbH and the state-owned enterprises " Russkoe video" accused. " Media-Most " was involved at that time in the dispute over the acquisition by Gazprom.

Gusinsky was finally released after he signed the so-called " Protocol No. 6 ," a contract between him and the Media Minister Mikhail Lessin. Under this agreement should Gusinsky " Media-Most " Gazprom sell at the price offered by Gazprom. Gusinsky, then left the country, claiming they would have forced him under threat of extension of the criminal proceedings for signing the contract.

On April 14, 2001 finally adoption NTWs by Gazprom took place. Many journalists left the company (but which continued to exist under new management under the old name ), and the director was replaced.

Many suspect that behind the financial pressure on NTV was the government of President Putin, who had been a frequent object of criticism NTWs. Former NTV journalists exchanged with her superiors Yevgeny Kiselyov the transmitter TW6, who later renamed to TVS and was eventually also closed under pressure from the government.

After Gusinsky was moved abroad, he founded the television RTVi, at the moment many former journalists of NTWs are busy. The transmitter looks at the events in Russia from a critical perspective. Many reports for RTVi be provided by the Russian television Echo TV.

"Here NTV "

In 2002 the book was published here was critical of the government of the NTV journalists Viktor Shenderovich in which that set out the events in the company NTW from the perspective of a man who had stood even in the center of the action. In the book, a number of interesting facts are listed, and to this day it is the only complete (albeit subjective ) description of the persecution of NTW from the government and the subsequent takeover of the company. The book consists of two parts: the first describes the history of the station NTV, the second tells the story of the show " Kukly ".

2004 appeared the second edition of the book, which was given the title: Here were NTV, TV -6, TVS ... and other stories. How can you guessed it, here the text of the first book was a narrative of the events have been added that have taken place with the NTV journalists after leaving the station.
