Nu Draconis

Kuma or ν Draconis ( Ny Draconis ) is an approximately 100 light-years distant triple-star system in the constellation Draco. It is a dual system, one component of which is itself a spectroscopic binary.

The dual system can be resolved even in binoculars, has an angular distance of 62 ", 3 and a position angle of 312 °. These two components are almost equally bright, wherein the component ν2 like Draconis with an apparent magnitude of 4.87 is minimal brighter than ν1 Draconis 4.89 mag., the orbital period of this system is at least 44,000 years. ν2 Draconis (component a of the system ) is a spectroscopic binary with a period of 38.13 days and an eccentricity of 0.04. the main component Aa is a metal line star of spectral A4m. ν2 Draconis, the component B, belongs to the spectral class A6 V.
