Nubi (also Ki- Nubi or Kinubi ) is a language that is spoken by about 25,000 people in Uganda, especially in the area of Bombo, and of about 15,500 people located in Kenya, mostly in the area of Kibera. It is a creole language with Arabic base - 90% of the vocabulary is derived from Arabic. However, grammar and phonetics differ widely from Arabic.

Many speakers of Nubi are bilingual in Swahili or English. Although some linguists assume that the name of the language from the term Nubia is derived, there is no connection with the Nubian language.

The language has its origins in the south of Sudan (now South Sudan ). It originated during the 19th century in the Arab troops of Emin Pasha. Around 1900 it became established as a distinct variety of the Sudanese Arab Pidgin.
