Acila cobboldiae

The Nuculoida are an order of mussels ( Bivalvia ), which was formerly also called Palaeotaxodonta. The order is provided infra Protobranchia class within the class of shells. The oldest representatives are with uncertainty from the Cambrian, certainly known from the Ordovician.

Characteristics

The members of the order have the same housing with flap whose rear end but can also be more or less extended greatly. The shell is aragonitisch with homogeneous, nacreous or prismatic structures.
