Nuestra Señora de Atocha

The Nuestra Señora de Atocha is a shipwreck located off the coast of Florida. In this shipwreck then the world's greatest treasure was discovered in 1985 by treasure hunter Mel Fisher, he has an ( estimated ) money value of 400 million U.S. dollars.

The Spanish galleon " Nuestra Senora de Atocha " belonged to the Spanish silver fleet, which ran between the 16th and the 18th century regularly between Europe and Central and South America. On July 24, 1622, the fleet was broken up in Cartagena, Spain to Havana, where they broke in on August 24. The ships were mainly loaded with gold and silver. On 4 September, the fleet ran out with 28 ships from Havana to Spain. On September 5, the convoy was caught in a hurricane, the driven ships in the direction of Florida. The Atocha was thrown on a reef in the Florida Keys, sprang a leak, drove back out to sea and sank on September 6 in 1622. Only five people survived the disaster, about 260 were killed.
