Number line

Under number line is understood in the teaching of mathematics to illustrate the real numbers as points on a straight line.

The picture shows the locations of the points of the integers were highlighted by vertical bars.

The number line is an illustration of the one-dimensional Euclidean vector space. The diagram illustrates that the set of real numbers by means of the usual comparisons forms a linear order. The number line continues in both directions to infinity. The arrow on the right side of the drawing indicates that the numbers in the direction of increase.

In class, a number line is used to illustrate the natural numbers.

The following figure shows the location of some particular real numbers: the square root of 2, Euler's number and the county number.

The set of complex numbers can be represented by the points of a plane, the so-called Gaussian number plane.
