Nunge

Nunge is the name of a coastal strip 2 kilometers north of the east African city of Bagamoyo in Tanzania. Nunge extends southward to the village of Mlingotini.

The Swahili word " Nungu " means "spheric fish " in German, " nunge " means " leper colony ".

For centuries the Nunge Coast salt obtained from the sea water and were sold into the African interior. The coast is passed with mangroves and with forests of coconut palms.

In recent years, some smaller hotel facilities for tourists have been created along the Nunge Coast.
