Nunivak Island

Nunivak is an island in the Bering Sea between Alaska and Russia. With 4227 km ², it is the eighth largest island in the United States and the second largest of the Bering Sea. The at the narrowest point 28 km wide Etolin Strait separates it from the Yukon - Kuskokwim Delta on the mainland of Alaska. The island is part of the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuges.

2004 179 people lived on Nunivak. Today, living in the village Mikuryamiut (English: Mekoryuk ) in the north of the island about 215 Inuit, whose language is the Cup'ig.
