Nuno Bettencourt
Nuno Duarte Gil Mendes Bettencourt ( born September 20, 1966 in Praia da Vitória on the belonging to the Azores island of Terceira ) is a Portuguese guitarist. Bettencourt is guitarist of the hard rock group Extreme, also works as a studio guitarist for various artists and is active as a composer.

Life and work
Bettencourt is a native Portuguese. His parents moved to the United States to Hudson (Massachusetts ) when he was four years old.
In 1985, Bettencourt guitarist of the band Extreme. The titles published in 1990 More Than Words was in the U.S. a number 1 hit and sold well worldwide. The band was unable to build on this success later. After the singer of the band, Gary Cherone, joined the group Van Halen, Bettencourt start his solo project NUNO. The album Schizophonic received good reviews, but was not a huge commercial success. Bettencourt founded in 1997, the group Mourning Widows. The album was a success in Japan and sold in the first month 45,000 times.
The written by Bettencourt for the band Tantric Hey Now title was in 2004 at the eighth place in the U.S. Hot Mainstream Rock chart.
Bettencourt was touring guitarist for the singer Rihanna on her Last Girl on Earth Tour ( 2010-11 ), her Loud Tour ( 2011) and her Diamonds World Tour ( 2013).
Trivia
- Beginning of the 1990s had Nuno Bettencourt made a cameo in the video clip of Stuttering John on I'll Talk My Way Out Of It ( with Gene Simmons and Sting ).
- In the series, How I Met Your Mother Bettencourt appeared with the figurines Marshall and parodied the title of More Than Words.
Collaboration with Washburn Guitars
The U.S. instrument manufacturer Washburn Guitars has designed their own guitar line for Bettencourt. The guitar is made of Alder. The neck is made of maple and has a rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are made by Seymour Duncan and Bill Lawrence. The guitars have a tremolo system manufactured in Germany by Floyd Rose Schaller Electronic.
