Nuno Valente

Nuno Valente [ nunu vɐlẽtɯ ] ( born September 12, 1974 in Lisbon, Nuno Jorge Pereira Silva Valente actually ) is a former Portuguese football player.

Career

The fast left-back with good shot you can both nationally and internationally designate as a late starter. After several changes within Portugal he flourished first under coach Jose Mourinho at FC Porto right on. So he was under him in 2004 World Cup and Champions League winners and Portuguese champions. After the season, he spent two million euro transfer fee for English club Everton. Was he in his first two seasons with Everton mostly in the starting eleven, so it was used only sporadically in the following years. 2008 Valente extended his contract by one year. In the current 2008/09 season Valente comes only to two appearances in the first two games. On 12 June 2009 it was announced that his 2009 expiring contract is not renewed at Everton.

With the national team, he was Vice-European Champion at the 2004 European Championships in their own country and took part in the 2006 World Cup.

For the 2010/11 season Nuno Valente took over the job of assistant coach at Sporting Lisbon.
