Nunzio Galantino

Nunzio Gala Tino ( born August 16, 1948 in Cerignola, Foggia, Italy Province) is a bishop of Cassano all'Jonio.

Life

After admission to the diocesan seminary of the diocese of Ascoli Satriano and continuation of the study of Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Benevento Galatino acquired in 1972 the Bachelor of Theology. On December 23, 1972, he received the sacrament of Holy Orders. Subsequently, he was chancellor of the seminary in Foccia. In 1974 he received his doctorate at the University of Bari for the doctor of philosophy and then worked until 1977 as a lecturer at the Regional Seminary of Benevento. From 1977 he was professor of Theological Anthropology at the Faculty of Theology of Southern Italy. He was also from 1977 pastor of San Francesco d' Assisi in Cerignola. In 1981 at the doctorate in theology. at the Theological Faculty of Southern Italy. Pope John Paul II awarded him on 1 August 1996 the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). 2001 Gala Tino became a full professor of Theological Anthropology at the Faculty of Theology of Southern Italy.

On December 9, 2011 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Bishop of Cassano all'Jonio. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Genoa, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, on 25 February 2012 at the Cathedral of San Pietro Apostolo in Cerignola; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Catanzaro - Squillace, Vincenzo Bertolone Sudeten, and the Bishop of Ascoli Satriano - Cerignola, Felice di Molfetta.

Pope Francis also appointed him on December 28, 2013 ad interim Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference and confirmed him on March 25 of the following year for 5 years in this office.
