Nupe

Nupe (also Nufe or NYFE ) was once the Sultan of Gwandu tributäres Empire, on the middle Niger, between the 8th and 10th degree of north latitude with about 21,310 km ². The official language was the Nupe, a nupoide language.

It was resided by the ethnicity of the Nupe, who were supposedly immigrated around the 15th century from Egypt. The Nupe, whose number is estimated at about half a million Muslims are in the majority. The former settlement area is now the territory of the West African state of Nigeria. It roughly corresponds to the Niger State in Nigeria with an extension to the north.
