Nur Misuari

Nur Misuari (* 1942 in Jolo, Sulu ) is a Filipino politician and former leader of the Moro National Liberation Front (on German National Liberation Front Moro ).

He graduated in the University of the Philippines. He then taught intermittently at the University of Political Science and in the 1960s he established the Mindanao Independence Movement, which aimed to establish an independent Islamic state in the southern Philippines.

From the Mindanao Independence Movement then went out the Moro National Liberation Front ( MNLF ), the political reforms demanded by the Philippine government. However, it was not possible the organization to win the government for reforms. So wore the M.N.L.F. under Misuaris guide the conflict 1972-1976 of Ferdinand Marcos against the government and its supporters with violence. The plan failed and Misuari went to Saudi Arabia in exile. In 1986, he returned after the fall of Marcos returned to the Philippines.

In April 2008 he was deposed as head of the MNLF.
