Nurcan Taylan

Nurcan Taylan ( born October 29, 1983 in Mamak / Ankara) is a Turkish weightlifter.

She was born in Mamak, the third child. Her family is originally from Hafik in the province of Sivas.

Taylan was discovered by Mehmet Üstündağ, who was also her coach later, at the age of eleven years.

Only 1.52 m tall, she raised two world and three Olympic records in the weight class up to 48 kg of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Nurcan Taylan is the first Turkish woman who won a gold medal at the Olympic Games.

Taylan is European champion in weightlifting, she has won six European and two world records, on 17 September 2010, they improved the Welte record in pushing the 48- kg class 121.0 kg.

In October 2011 Nurcan Taylan as doping sinner (repeat offender ) from the International Weightlifting Federation ( IWF) has been suspended for four years. She could not attend the 2012 Olympics in London therefore. Späger was shortened this lock to 2 years.
