Nuruddin ar-Raniri

Nūr ad -Din ar - Rānīrī († 1658) was an Islamic religious scholar from Gujarat, who worked during the reign of Iskandar Thani Ala II (r. 1636-1641 ) at the court of the Sultanate of Aceh.

Ar - Rānīrī came from an Arab family from the Hadramaut who has been resident in the town of Rander in Gujarat and already had contacts with the court in Aceh. His uncle had already been active as a teacher of logic, rhetoric, ethics and fiqh 1580-1583 there. Ar - Rifai Rānīrī itself belonged to the Order.
