Nusle

Nusle ( German: 1939-1945 Nusl ) is a neighborhood in Prague. It is located south from the center of the capital and belongs administratively to Prague 4 Nusle extends Prague's hills and on the southerly hill Pankrác.

History

Nusles boom began with the Industrial Revolution. During this time a station has already been built and the community got a by trams. The strongest development was carried out at the beginning of the 20th century. 1920 Nusle was incorporated into Prague. Subsequent development was carried out only in the south, direction Pankrác and Vršovice. After the Second World War, the neighborhood began to deteriorate. In 1974 the Prague's hills was most by the Nuselský bridged ( to 1990 Most Klementa Gottwalda ). At the height of its southern slope to the convention center and to the southeast of Prague prison. The old district center in the Botič Valley is one (yet) to the little restored in Prague. The stream Botič is also known for its mention in the book The Good Soldier Svejk by Jaroslav Hašek. In 1991, the city had 40796 inhabitants. In 2001 Nusle consisted of 1377 houses, in which 35339 people lived.

Traffic

Nusle is an important traffic intersection. With the bridge over the Nusle valley here begins highway D1 to Brno. Many tram lines run through the valley and the hill. Within the bridge construction, the Metro C runs with the stations IP Pavlova and Vyšehrad. After the closure of the railway station Praha- Vyšehrad Nusle has no connection to the Czech railway network more.

Personalities

  • Jaroslav Foglar ( born July 6, 1907 in Prague Nusle; † January 23, 1999 Prague), most important Czech writers of children's books of the 20th century. Under the name Jestrab ( hawk ), he led his life scout departments.
