NV Energy

NV Energy, Inc. is an electricity and gas company headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. The holding company listed on the New York Stock Exchange and in 2011 generated revenues of approximately three billion U.S. dollars.

NV Energy supplies around 840,000 customers in southern Nevada and 323,000 customers in upstate power and again more than 150,000 customers in the Reno-Sparks area with gas.

History

The history of NV Energy goes back to 1928 was established as the Sierra Pacific Power Company, which was responsible for the energy supply in northern Nevada.

Nevada Power 1962 was the first company in Nevada, which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In 1996 the company was reorganized into a holding company Sierra Pacific Resources. In 1999 merged Sierra Pacific Resources and Nevada Power Company. Since 2008, the two companies appear under the name of NV Energy.

In May 2013, Berkshire Hathaway announced the acquisition of the company for 5.6 billion U.S. dollars. Is made operational terms of purchase on the Berkshire subsidiary MidAmerican Energy and should be completed in early 2014.
