NWE Nos. 11 to 22

The Nordhausen - Wernigerode Railway Company ( NWE ) lined up with the numbers 11 to 22 twelve Mallet locomotives in its inventory a. As of 1950, the locomotives were designated by the German Reichsbahn as Class 99 590.

History

Shortly after the founding year of the second series of NWE by Arnold Jung was built in 1897 Jungenthal. There were locomotives of the Mallet type. The NWE classified the first locomotive as NWE 11. Very quickly, the portfolio grew to twelve locomotives, nine of them by young and three of the Mecklenburg machines and wagon AG in Güstrow built. The locomotives were very reliable, but in the First World War had six locomotives ( including all locomotives from Güstrow ) be delivered to the Army field lines. They never came back from their use there back.

1927 crashed a locomotive ( NWE 12ii ) in Thumkulenthal. The locomotive, a passenger car and vans were so badly damaged that they had to be disassembled on site. Mid-1950s, the new locomotives ( 99.23-24 ) came to Harzquerbahn. Therefore, the Malletlokomotiven were no longer needed and came to Selketalbahn. Two Malletlokomotiven were scrapped: 5905 99 in 1975 and 99 5904 1990 The other three locomotives remained in inventory..

99 5901 and 99 5903 were re- painted in the historic green with yellow ornaments. In addition, they were written to their historic numbers again: NWE NWE 11 and 13II ( before 1918 it was number 18). Since 1998, 99 5901 is again painted black. Lok 99 5902 had at last the NWE NWE 12III the term ( to 1927 number 14) and with green paint on the road since 2007. After expiration of all periods during the 99 5903 it was restored in 2000 by the maintenance.
