Nyamuragira

The Nyamuragira (also Girungo - Namlagira, Namlagira, Nyamlagira or Nyamulagira ) is an active volcano in the Virunga volcano chain in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The volcano is located about 25 kilometers north of Goma Kiwusees and near the border with Rwanda.

The Nyamuragira is one of the most active volcanoes in Africa with more than 30 recorded eruptions since 1880. This new crater, but all had only over a certain period inventory developed on the flanks of the volcano again. The last eruption took place on 6 November 2011.

The Nyamuragira is located only 13 kilometers from the volcano Nyiragongo, which caused great damage from an eruption in Goma in 2002.
