Nyck de Vries

Nyck de Vries ( born February 6, 1995 Sneek ) is a Dutch racing driver. He is a two-time World Karting Champion (2010 and 2011). 2012 and 2013 he started in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup.

Career

De Vries began his motor racing career at the age of four years in karting, where he was active until 2011. Among other things, he won the 2008 KF3 WSK International Series and became German Junior Kart Champion. In 2009, he defended the title and also decided the KF3 CIK - FIA European Championship for themselves. Early 2010, de Vries was added to the funding of the Formula 1 team McLaren and Anthony Hamilton took over its management. 2010 won de Vries for the first time the World Kart Championship. In 2011 he repeated this success and also won the KF1 - WSK Euro Series.

2012 de Vries moved into formula racing. He received a cockpit in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup at R -Ace Grand Prix. During the tests before the season he scored right off the bat the best time. De Vries succeeded on his debut race in Alcaniz with a second place, the first podium placement. In the rest of the season there, he managed to repeat this result at the Hungaroring. De Vries finished the season in fifth place overall and was the best pilot of his racing team. In addition, de Vries took part in several races of the North European Formula Renault R- Ace Grand Prix. Here he managed a victory in Assen. He stood at eleven starts in the series four times on the podium and was at the end of the season in tenth place in the drivers' standings. 2013 joined de Vries within the Formula Renault 2.0 Euro Cup to Koiranen GP. He won a race ever at the Hungaroring and the Circuit de Catalunya. He reached in five races on the podium and finished the season again on the fifth championship ranking. De Vries had scored 113 out of 120 points of his racing team and was significantly stronger than his teammates. In addition, de Vries took part in three events in the Formula Renault Alpine for Koiranen GP. He scored two second places and finished eighth in the drivers' standings.
